Viva el taco! Hattiesburg Zoo invites guests to gather their amigos and head to its first ever “Tacos & Tequila!” Taco enthusiasts ages 21 and up can enjoy this one-of-a-kind fiesta at the Hattiesburg Zoo on June 16th from 6-8 pm. Partygoers will enjoy gourmet tacos and hand-crafted tequila cocktails by the Hattiesburg Zoo, with tequila selections sponsored by Alliance Beverage.
Attendees can expect music, dancing, games and libations in Hattiesburg’s own little corner of South America. Guests can play Jumbo Jenga, Giant Mexican Beer Pong, Zoo Corn Hole or visit a “south-of-the-border” fortuneteller. Expect special encounters from the Zoo’s South American animal friends. Rebecca Chandler from Hattiesburg Ballroom and Beyond will lead guests in Salsa dancing and Meringue lessons.
Tickets are $25 and include five menu-tasting items, side items and five tequila-tasting cocktails (non-alcoholic beverage options available upon request). The menu will offer a unique take on traditional tacos; some of the entrees include Chicken Mole Tacos paired with Sangrita, Pork Carnitas Tacos paired with a Tequila Sunrise and Avocado Ice Cream and Mexican Coffee for dessert.
Tickets can be purchased online at HattiesburgZoo.com, or at the door the night of the event. Guests must be ages 21 and up to be permitted access to the event.
Tacos and Tequila follows in the recently crafted mold of another Zoo event: Frosty Ales and Curly Tails: A Beer and Bacon Event. Both Tacos & Tequila and Frosty Ales & Curly Tails are evening events featuring themed food, activities and music. They represent a focus on new offerings by the Zoo, one that expands the patronage of the Zoo to a more mature crowd.
