Netflix has long been a pioneer in streaming past seasons of our favorite television shows. Since 2012, however, it has become a driving force in the original content market, garnering massive success with shows like “Orange is The New Black” and “House of Cards.” Here are 5 shows to distract you from all the other things that you need to accomplish.
Stranger Things: This sci-fi thriller is one of the most popular shows out at the moment. The show centers around the disappearance of a young boy and the many investigations that surround it. If you were a fan of early seasons of American Horror Story, you’d be all over this.
Sense8: The Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski-directed drama about eight strangers around the world is an excellent case of a unique storyline. All eight main characters from different corners of the world are connected emotionally and mentally, jumping in to help each other when the time calls for it. Season two should be out later this year, so you have plenty of time to catch up on season one.
Daredevil: Marvel’s “Daredevil” is one of many superhero-themed shows you can catch on television or online, but it does something that the other shows don’t — it keeps the cheesiness and corniness out of the script. Shows like “Arrow” and “The Flash,” both of which can be found on The CW, are filled with odd jokes that are hard to land. “Daredevil” stays true to comic book style and relies on the action and adventure of it all.
Master of None: Created by and starring Emmy-award winning comedian Aziz Ansari, this Netflix original is perfect for the casual viewer. With only 10 episodes, and each of them running at about 30 minutes each, it doesn’t take much dedication and is perfect for a small break in between study sessions.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: This Emmy-award nominated series is one of the most outstanding sitcoms to be created since “Golden Girls” or “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Following the titular character, Kimmy, it centers on her return to the regular world after spending 15 years in a bunker following a religious cult leader. With the wide array of characters, you never know what is going to happen next.
